Brief
The goal of the mobile application is to revolutionize access to emergency medical services and transportation in Lagos, Nigeria, by providing a convenient, efficient, and affordable platform similar to ride-hailing services like Uber, Lyft, or Bolt. The aim is to address the challenges of limited access to ambulances, slow response times, and high costs associated with traditional ambulance services, particularly in areas with high poverty rates and heavy traffic congestion.

Problem
Lagos, Nigeria, faces significant challenges in accessing emergency medical services, exacerbated by factors such as limited ambulance availability, slow response times, and high costs. The poverty rate in the region further compounds these issues, as individuals may delay seeking medical attention due to financial constraints or opt for alternative, less effective means of transportation. Additionally, traffic congestion often hinders the timely arrival of ambulances at accident scenes or medical emergencies, putting lives at risk.
Solution
Our solution is a mobile application that operates similarly to popular ride-hailing services but focuses specifically on ambulance and hearse services in Lagos. By partnering with hospitals, morgues, and funeral homes across the city, the application provides users with access to on-demand emergency medical transportation services. Users can request ambulances or hearses directly through the app, specifying their location and required services. The application calculates fares based on distance traveled and additional services provided during the trip, such as the presence of medics. By leveraging technology and a network of partner institutions, the application aims to make emergency medical transportation easy, quick, convenient, and affordable for all residents of Lagos, particularly those facing financial constraints or transportation challenges.
Design Process
User Research/Analysis:
Conducted extensive user research to understand the challenges and needs of residents in Lagos, Nigeria, regarding access to emergency medical transportation. This involved interviews, surveys, and observations to identify pain points such as slow response times, high costs, and limited availability of ambulances.
Design
Based on the insights gathered from user research, designed the mobile application interface with a focus on simplicity, ease of use, and accessibility. Developed wireframes and prototypes to visualize the user journey and functionality of the app, ensuring it addresses the identified pain points and meets the needs of users.
Review and Iteration
Gathered feedback from stakeholders, including potential users, medical professionals, and partner institutions, through usability testing and design reviews. Iteratively refined the design based on feedback, making adjustments to improve usability, enhance functionality, and optimize the overall user experience. Continued to test and iterate on the app until it met the requirements and expectations of users and stakeholders, ensuring that it effectively addressed the challenges of accessing emergency medical transportation in Lagos.
